Hanlin Hill Riesling
Wine
Petaluma Hanlin Hill Riesling is sourced from old Riesling vines, planted in 1968. They grow along the contours of the Hanlin Hill Vineyard on the eastern edge of the Clare Valley.
In typical Petaluma style, the fruit is handpicked later than normal for Riesling. It is destemmed, crushed and chilled prior to gentle pressing, where only the free run juice is collected.
The juice parcels are cold settled, racked and inoculated with selected yeast. A slow, cool fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks. As the wine approaches sugar dryness, it is chilled and settled.
Prior to bottling, the wine is racked, blended and filtered.
Straw in colour, Petaluma Hanlin Hill Riesling is a dry, concentrated wine with intense citrus, hints of chalkiness and balanced acidity. Cellaring potential is seven years.
